Vision Services

Tahlequah City Hospital has formed Tahlequah Vision Associates, (TVA), a limited liability company in Tahlequah. This formation allows area residents to receive state-of-the-art eye surgery at Tahlequah City Hospital.

“Tahlequah Vision Associates has purchased two new pieces of equipment to be used at Tahlequah City Hospital,” said hospital CEO Brian Woodliff. “The additional equipment enhances TCH’s efficiency and extends the ophthalmologic service line in this area.”

The two pieces of equipment purchased are a Zeiss Microscope and an Alcon Phacoemulsification. The Zeiss Microscope offers surgeons increased visibility and contrast thereby offering the most advanced information for the physician.

The Alcon Phacoemulsification machine offers cutting-edge programming capabilities and gives the surgeon precise control during the procedure. This new technology, used for cataract removal, uses less energy in the eye thereby allowing the eye to heal faster.

“The new equipment is the most sophisticated system in the area,” said Woodliff. “It has brand new technology that no other institution in this region has.”

Dr. Leonard Wilkins agrees.

“My main emphasis is on helping my patients,” said Wilkins. “The new equipment that has been purchased through the LLC is opening up many doors for patients that haven’t been there before.”

In addition to quality equipment, patients can receive care in a familiar atmosphere without the hassle of traveling to larger cities.

“Anytime you can get your medical care close to home you can save time in treating medical problems,” continued Wilkins. “It is simply a better option for both the patient and the physician than trying to do it from a distance.”

The concept of Tahlequah Vision Associates was developed by the Tahlequah City Hospital Board of Trustees and the hospital’s CEO as part of the hospitals mission to provide unsurpassed excellence in healthcare.

“At Tahlequah City Hospital, we are dedicated to providing excellent healthcare,” said Woodliff. “This means that we don’t provide a new service line unless we know we can provide it with excellence. By establishing TVA and purchasing state-of-the-art equipment, TCH is positioned to be the leader in eye surgery in the region.”

Optometrist or ophthalmologist? There’s no need to decide. At Tahlequah Vision Associates, we combine the strengths of both with the most advanced technology in the region to meet your eye care needs.
