Radiology Oncology
Tahlequah City Hospital now offers radiation oncology to cancer patients in Northeast Oklahoma. The Northeast Oklahoma Cancer Center opened in early 2008 as part of TCH’s new Medical Plaza. This new service allows patients to take advantage of the newest technology in a comfortable setting.
“There are a lot of people in Tahlequah and the surrounding areas who require cancer management,” said Daniel Murphy, M.D., Director of Radiation Oncology for Northeast Oklahoma Cancer Center. “Previously, they would have to go to Tulsa, Arkansas or Muskogee for care. When you require treatment for six to seven weeks, this can become quite a distance.”
Patients of Northeast Oklahoma Cancer Center benefit from the most advanced equipment in the United States.
“We have state of the art equipment,” said Murphy. “It is and IMRT/IGRT with rapid arc capability. There is no more advanced equipment anywhere.”
IMRT/IGRT is Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy/Image Guided Radiation Therapy. This type of technology offers a more targeted and accurate approach to radiation therapy.
Tahlequah City Hospital’s firm commitment to quality people and advanced technology ensures that cancer patients have an opportunity to succeed during a very difficult time in their life.
