TCH performian cancer marker test
Oct 26, 2009Patients at Tahlequah City Hospital’s cancer center, known as Northeast Oklahoma Cancer Center, are receiving rapid results and timely treatments thanks to the hospital’s newest CEA test.
The CEA test, or Carcinoembryonic antigen, is a test used in the follow-up and therapy management of patients that have colorectal adenocarcinoma.
“The test is ordered by the physician to determine the effectiveness of treatment,” said TCH Laboratory Director, Clint Horn. “The test is not to be used as a screening test for cancer but is used in conjunction with other treatment options.”
Performing the test in the Tahlequah City Hospital Laboratory will aid the treatment of patients using Northeast Oklahoma Cancer Center by giving the physician same-day results.
Northeast Oklahoma Cancer Center is a comprehensive cancer center located inside Tahlequah City Hospital. The center offers radiation oncology and chemotherapy under the direction of Daniel Murphy, M.D. and Ravidumar Vasireddy, M.D.
